The visit to the Research and Development Center, in Trofa, took place in the scope of an investment contract.
BIAL has just signed an investment contract with the Portuguese Government of over €37 Mio, to be carried out until December 2018.
The Prime Minister, António Costa, and the Ministers of Health and Economy attended the contract signature ceremony after visiting BIAL’s R&D Department.
This investment will increase and reinforce BIAL’s research and development activity within the critical areas of central nervous and cardiovascular systems.
BIAL develops an intense research activity, having synthesized more than 12 thousand molecules in the last two decades, owning more than 1300 patents. At its R&D center in Trofa, more than 100 researchers from 9 different nationalities daily investigate new treatment solutions in the neurosciences and cardiovascular areas. BIAL has been strengthening its international presence, wanting to reinforce it in the current decade, particularly in the European pharmaceutical markets of greater relevance.
